Difference Between Rugby and Football

Rugby and Football are both well-known games that play in all over the world. The shape of a Rugby ball is Oval, while the body of a Football is Spherical. In Rugby, play can kick and pass them in any direction.

Main Difference

In Football, pass, and kick the ball in the forward movement. In addition, in Rugby, 15 players play the match together, whereas, in Football, 11 play together in one team. Furthermore, the duration of Rugby is almost 80 minutes, while the time of Football is nearly 90 minutes. Let us discuss the main differences between Rugby and Football in detail.

Rugby is a popular sport invented in 1823 and created by William Webb Ellis. Fifteen players are on each team. The main task in the sport is to kick the ball opposite team’s goal line—this game takes in a rectangular ground with a goal post at each end.

In addition, this game starts with the kick-off, and during the game, the players of both teams strive to make a goal against their opponents. This game consists of two halves of 40 minutes, with a break of 10 minutes between these halves. Furthermore, this game is played in all the countries of the world. This game is more common in Australia, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand.

Football is a well-known sport that is played all over the world. The match was played with two teams, and each section had 11 players. To score the goal kick the ball in the opposing team’s goal. This game takes a rectangular shape containing a goalpost at each end. In addition, the game starts with the kick-off, and the purpose of the player is to post the goal against their opponent by passing or kicking the ball.

Moreover, Football consists of 2 halves of 45 minutes with a break of 15 minutes with these halves. Football is a skill-based game that requires high speed, agility, and teamwork. Football has millions of fans worldwide and holds many competitions, such as the FIFA world cup, the UEFA Championship, and many more leagues, such as the Spanish La Liga league and Italian Serie A.
