GApps, short for Google Apps, are all the core applications that you need to have access to use an Android-based smartphone or tablet. Since Android devices don’t always come with these pre-installed, some users prefer to install them from Google’s GApps download page rather than installing them from their device’s system itself – whether this is done out of preference or necessity. This article aims to compare and contrast the two most popular Android app packs (otherwise known as GApps packages), those being Open GApps and BigGApps.
What is Open GApps?
The Open GApps Project is an effort to collect and build a complete Google experience (Android operating system, Android Applications, and other Google-related add-ons) for use with any Android-based device.
All parts are available under free software licenses. It allows you to choose which packages you want from among several distributions that include different combinations of applications. You can choose between Stock, AOSP Extended, or AOKP. Each distribution has its features and specialties but they all share common base packages which include core apps like Browser, Camera, Email, etc.
What is BiTGApps?
Big gaps are made up of multiple google apps, therefore they can be a great choice if you’re looking for many different apps in one package. For example, if you don’t have time to choose all of your apps but still want several different and essential apps all at once, Big GApps can be a good choice. These packages include more than just Google services it’s more than just a Google Play Store. The general word for these types of packages is called F-Droid applications.
Differences between Open GApps and BiTGApps
Briefly, you can say that both are Play Store client apps. They are the same as they serve to give a remote control for Google Play Store. While Open GApps is an official Google project and hence it will get frequent updates, ButTGapps lacks such features due to which it can not be depended upon at times. However, if you know how to play with them, then you can surely go ahead with BitTorrent.
Number of Android versions supported
Typically, all Android apps released by Google are already included in Open GApps. Unlike some other sources, there’s no limit to what versions can be installed, and up-to-date versions of Chrome, Drive, Duo, and a slew of Google services will be added as soon as they’re released.
In addition, these apps will automatically update when new versions become available on Google Play. If you don’t want automatic updates for some reason, you can easily disable them from within your app settings.
Generally speaking, most reputable app stores only carry apps for Google’s latest version of Android. That means if you’re looking to use an app from 2013 on your 2016 device, good luck—unless you find it somewhere like F-Droid.
This is another great reason to stick with Google Play (or a trusted alternative) instead of trying to customize your OS. Not only will you have access to all of Google’s apps and services out of the box, but they also have a ton of community support behind them. If something goes wrong or you need help using one of their services, there are plenty of people online who can help.
One of Google’s goals for Android is to have consistent experiences across all devices. Their solution for getting developers engaged was to require them to license their apps through Google Play. Because of that, most apps include some form of About dialog, where users can view information about who made the app and how it’s licensed. This is a great way to build trust with your users.
A lot of people get concerned when they see an app on their device that isn’t from a trusted source—this dialog helps alleviate those concerns by providing a direct line of communication between you and your user. This also allows you to share more information about yourself as an individual or company, which helps build brand loyalty with your customers.
Open is at Google’s core. We started by building our operating system, web browser, and search engine. Today, we work with an ecosystem of more than 2 million developers building everything from productivity apps to virtual reality systems. We’re constantly exploring new ways to open our services and make them even better for everyone – users, developers, and partners alike.
Both applications are used to download Google Apps for Android, but there are some differences. If you’re running an AOSP ROM or ROMs with a limited set of features, then you’ll likely want to use Biggies Apps. This application doesn’t require an account to download Google apps.
