In the MMO gaming world, there are two games that just about everyone has heard of, Runescape and its younger brother Osrs. Both games were released in 2001 and have gone through significant changes over the years, each vying to become the better of the two. So which game should you choose? Well, let’s take a look at both sides to find out which one is right for you!

Main Difference

There are many different aspects of RuneScape that you can use to compare it to Old School Runescape. However, while these two games do share a lot in common, they also have a lot of differences as well.

It’s important to note that when people discuss these differences, they aren’t intended as a way to say one game is better than another. Both games offer certain things which make them enjoyable and interesting for players.

Introduction To Old School RuneScape

New School RuneScape. Osrs and New School RuneScape are two different games from Jagex, one has been around for years and runescape3 is fairly new. Both of these online role-playing games have millions of users from all over the world, but what is it that makes them both so popular? Let’s take a look at some of their similarities and differences to see if we can figure out which game is better.

OSRS

Introduction To Runescape 3

The newest iteration of RS is leaps and bounds better than its predecessors in nearly every way. The interface is beautiful, full of vibrant colors that pop off your screen. Their new take on multi-player, dubbed Gilded floors has been received with a largely positive response. However, there are still plenty of places where players can feel as though they’re stuck in 2006.

Combat hasn’t changed much since OSRS was released back in 2007, and while it doesn’t need to be reinvented, it could use some sprucing up. It would also be nice if we could see more improvements to high-level content; currently, players who want to progress past level 99 will find themselves grinding their teeth against bosses for hours on end.

Key Differences Between Oldschool Runescape and RS3

Some of you have heard of Oldschool Runescape. For those who haven’t, it is a private server that has been created to recreate and relive what RS was like. It is completely free and doesn’t cost anything to use. The game is almost identical to how it used to be except for some minor differences.

The main difference between OSRS and RS3 is as follows In OSRS you can choose your stats when creating your character. In RS3, however, they choose them for you based on your race. Another difference is in skills; in OSRS there are a lot more skills than there are in RS3. There are also different quests which make it more fun and interesting to play but overall both games offer a similar experience just with different ways of doing things!

Differences in Graphics and Sound

Though their respective graphics aren’t different, each game does look a bit cleaner and smoother than its predecessor. Sound is another matter entirely; modern MMOs are known for their outstanding soundtracks and effects. Old School RuneScape’s sounds are rudimentary at best, in comparison. It also lacks voice acting—you read everything aloud from a text box—which is becoming more and more commonplace in today’s games.

Conclusion

There are quite a few differences between Osrs and RS3. In many cases, these differences help define who you are as a player. It is important to consider each game individually and not just look at it from one angle. Both games are different yet similar which makes them easy to pick up but difficult to master. Each offers its own set of perks, but in my opinion, I would have to say that OSRS is slightly better than RS3!
